log #2: tired all the time
what is a job?
Life of Gay would not be possible without your support, you, readers. This is a fun passion project and who says millennials don’t have hobbies? Does this newsletter make money? Absolutely not. And it’s fine! Send this newsletter to your friend, a friend-of-a friend.
If we are connected on LinkedIn, news is out that I am employed. You may have missed it though because I disabled notifications to my network just because I didn’t want the attention. (Says someone who writes a newsletter.) I don’t have that kink where I need validation through work. Anyway, I turned it back on after I updated my profile as I plan on taking a LinkedIn sabbatical. No more bullshit about people’s life updates. I was given two and a half weeks of freedom before starting a full time job. Two weeks in, I am tired all the time after work. How do people do things after work? I barely have the time and energy to read, write, work out, go climbing, listen to music and watch films. What’s your secret?? I’m open to all suggestions. I took the opportunity to go whale watching in the afternoon because they have been frequenting the area. Nothing. No sighting. I am not asking for much, whales. Some friends invited me to go climbing in Squamish and I was hesitant, yet mildly curious. Could I send? No. But I would try it again to slowly build up the skills and techniques. While I couldn’t send, I hiked to the top and was blessed with a view of Howe Sound (figure: 3). Stunning. Natto roll and Coke Zero might be my go to summer snack to have in a park. At LoG we’re (me) always thinking about our gut microbiome. Round 2 at Earnest and this time I went for Nanaimo Bar which was a superior choice. I wish their waffle cone was thicker and more flavourful but no up charge so it’s fine! Eventually, I will get extended health benefits which includes optical and while my vision is technically fine I’ll probably get the Senna II from Bailey Nelson just for fun and cosplay as an art critic. I think it makes me look more gay. First Vancouver concert was Snail Mail last weekend at Vogue Theatre. I enjoyed Ricochet and all the songs all kind of sounded the same yet distinguished in a good way (like Dashboard Confessional) but the live performance was mid. I was yawning a few times. And it was all ages… Daniel and I went on an afternoon walk and stumbled on a fig tree producing figs! It appears Vancouver is conducive to the Desert King variety. You can grow banana plants but they don’t produce any bananas. This fig tree isn’t far from where I live so once ripened, I will bring some shears. There’s even a reddit thread: ISO: figs to pick. I don’t love jam. But fig jam I can devour. A few weeks ago, we had an “early summer” of high 20 degrees. Biked to Jericho Beach for the first time and just when I thought beach views couldn’t get any better, this one more than met my expectations.
