Hello,
Kind of strapped for time. I hate saying that because I hate the idea of being busy. Or the culture of busyness as if being busy means you’re super important. Hustle culture is toxic. Anyway, some quick hits as the kids are saying these days.

When I am in the mood for an iced oat dirty chai latte, I head over to Tampered Press. The best in the city. I guarantee it. They also have these mini frosted vegan donuts that are a non-negotiable. Anyway, $10 well spent.

If you’re looking for an insightful interview to read, might I suggest Gabor Maté: Capitalist Society Is Making Us Physically and Mentally Unwell at Jacobin. There were too many quotable comments… But I ended up with this one because I think we get consumed with our own priorities that we forget that community is part of our whole well being. And also that institutions play an important role in how our lives are ultimately shaped and that they require systemic change. I basically just paraphrased it lol but read it below anyway.
// Gabor Maté - There are certain human needs that are not negotiable. We can’t negotiate them away. We can give up on them, but then we suffer when we do. When they’re not met, there’s going to be suffering and ill health in every sense of the word. They include having a purpose in life, having agency and authority in one’s own life, and being connected to other people. Meeting all of these needs is required for full health, full wholeness. On a social level, that means that all the institutions and political structures and ideologies that undermine those qualities need to be either jettisoned or transformed.
Listen:
Listening to Basia Bulat makes me feel like a 40 year old middle upper class white lady living in Roncesvalles. It’s very adult contemporary. What a genre title. It’s very much up my alley. I haven’t decided yet if I am going to go the show this Saturday. I guess you’ll find out next Thursday.
Fashion:
I watched Tár last night and it runs 2hr and 38mins. That’s not the point. The point is that Lydia Tár is a walking The Row ad. This look from The Row S/S 21 is emblematic of her discernment.
Also, if the Balenciaga Moto Bag could make a comeback, I firmly believe that Proenza Schouler’s PS1 will too. Just saying.
Watch:
I am only one episode in and I am in awe at how fast the Spanish language is. Half way through the subtitles and they’re already on to the next. It’s about a group of people who perform scary theatrics for clients. We must all support people born in 1987 like Julio Torres. Also gay. Also vegan.
Also, I watched Do Revenge as suggested by Maegan when I told her I couldn’t get into it. She said I should try again. Well, the reviews are in and it was very fun and lesbian and it features some fun tracks composed by Este Haim and Amanda Yamate. A little too on the nose I would say playing Silk Chiffon by Muna to lesbians kissing. Saw that one coming from a mile away.
Ok. See you next week!

I like the new format. Especially how ironic it is that it feels like you’re in a hurry, yet the content makes you stop and think.
I wanna see Do Revenge now too - love a good lesbian movie.
