Morning!
Welcome to Caroline Polacheck week where Billions is topping the charts of every gay’s Spotify, Apple Music, what have you. Even Daniel, Polachek’s most discerning critic, thoroughly enjoyed the song. I have made progress in our relationship.
Last week, I went shopping. This week, I put together a look, an outfit, a costume, clothes on an animal.
I don’t remember the last time I had fun putting on clothes. This past winter, like all winters, I stick to one look: black pants and a black sweater. The streets, these past winters, have been salty, slushy and disgusting and with said clothes, I could just wipe off the grime and not care so much if they get dirty.
Occasionally, when the streets are clean and my clothes are safe from harm, I will stray into new outfit territory. I have not left the house in this look yet, because the streets are still disgusting and today we’re getting heavy rain > freezing rain > 15-25cm of snow all within 24 hours. I love Toronto so much!
I am still in my vest phase. The last vest phase was from my early 20’s, circa 2010, hoarding all the vests I could find at thrift stores. This look feels less fall/winter and more spring. I’m talking coffee with a friend, a walk through a park, biking along the water. Not brunch. Brunch is overrated.
This year, I am looking to find pieces that are a lot more refined, structured and easy. Interchanging pieces that will go with the rest of my wardrobe without thinking. A no fuss approach, if you will. To all my friends, you will see me wearing this at every hangout. Apologizing in advance.
Is it giving Brittany Bathgate yet?
Women’s pants are a scam. Demand bigger pockets! I can’t fit my hands in there! But they fit so good..
Here’s an outtake which makes feel like a member of a 90s boy band.
Homosexual Agenda
Went to a party. Talked to lesbians about TV and while they know The L Word: Generation Q, they have never heard of It’s A Sin. A crime, really.
Looking for something scary to watch? Evangelical Christians in the USA on DW Documentary. Anti-abortion, check. Anti-homosexual, check. Anti-evolution, check.
Why Are We Still Paying for Catholic Schools? for The Walrus. As someone who has been through the Catholic school system from grades 1-12, I can tell you it’s a scam. Catholic school eventually turned me into an atheist. The Ontario government should either be solely funding public schools or fund all religious and public schools.
This profile of AOC stops at her first win. I wish it went further. Adrift, Broke, and Disillusioned How a struggling bartender became the face of a resurgent left for Intelligencer.
Pretty excited that people in Canada and internationally are waking up to the notion that Canada is just as fucked up as America. Baffled by the Chaos in Canada? So Are Canadians for The New York Times. Are we?
On “Plant-Based” by Alicia Kennedy really struck a cord. I’ve seen food items marketed as plant-based, but if you read the ingredients, some food items will contain meat products. Confusing!
Tried these Fishless Cakes from President’s Choice and I can 100% vouch for them or your money back! From Galen Weston Jr, not me.
I love that the latest episode of The Cutting Room by Recho Omondi floor prefaces that one of the founders of Antidote is wealthy as fuck and self-funded the project. Unfortunately, the rest of the episode is behind a paywall on Patreon. Side note: I saw a profile of Emily Bode, of BODE, on Business of Fashion, via IG, and some commenters stated that her family is rich af. Keep the disclosures coming!
A whole pint of Strawberry Shortcake ice cream from Honey’s. I will not confirm or deny that I finished it in two days. Could use more strawberries, tbh.
A sucker for Sally Rooney, I am excited for the adaption of Conversations with Friends, which dropped a teaser this week!
I made the Dilly Bean Stew by Allison Roman and it was easy. Hearty. Herby. Stewy. Delicious. Caveat that I had flatulence for days!
Too many concert tickets purchased over the weekend: Tempers, Blue Hawaii and Snail Mail.
Finally gave Snail Mail a listen, recommended by Maegan. Obsessed with this gen z lesbian.
Euphoria S2 EP 6 one sentence review: did anything happen?
My weekend plans: Fat Noodles with Pan-Roasted Mushrooms and Crushed Herb Sauce by Carla Lalli Music.
Kind of a heavy / fun HA here. :)

We had the fat noodle recipe for dinner last night under your influence, paired with my birthday red you got. Positive reviews for both, would eat/drink again!
