Hello!
Welcome to the first week of November. Where Halloween felt like centuries ago and holiday anxiety is just ahead. To be honest, the holidays don’t give me much anxiety because I tend to protest everything it stands for. You have been warned that there will be no holiday content unless it is to critique it.
The fifth and final season of Insecure came out last week with a strong opener and a potential lawsuit from AKA Sorority. I am siding with #teaminsecure on this laughable matter. The episode brings together the main characters back to Stanford for a reunion, with Issa being on a panel about entrepreneurship. She’s unsure how to navigate the questions, but in Issa fashion, she responds in ways that are not socially acceptable like making jokes at bad timing and singing to her answers. By the end of the episode, Issa has this revelation and says "I don't want to get stuck worrying about what I'm not, where I'm not. I just want to move forward."
Issa’s guide to life is also how I see myself weaving through society. I am finding that my generation is still holding on to a loose notion of the social clock. Graduate from post-secondary, find a career, have a child, get married, buy a house and so forth. I don’t see any issues with checking off boxes. I do think the way society is shaped and designed, to climb the ladder, you do have to follow antiquated social norms.
I am out here with Issa with a PSA with fuck all that. I do think employment is important because your basic needs - such as food and housing - still need to be met. But regardless of where you are in life, as long as you’re growing and moving forward, then I think you’re doing something right.
My next goal in life is trying to find an affordable coffee grinder. Moving forward!

My Friday night was complete when I met Rachel Sennott (you may know her from Shiva Baby!) filming outside my office. I did not know who was acting/what was being filmed. I did not remember her name (sorry), but I said “you’re from Shiva Baby!”. We took a photo and when she finished filming, she said “have a great night it was really nice meeting you.” We are friends now.
Upgraded to Android 12 and I am slow to learn the features. Also found out I get no more security updates. The fuck. On that note, accepting Pixel 6 as a gift for any occasion.
@catworkers is the Twitter account you didn’t know you needed. You’re welcome!
I subscribed to Kitchen Stuff Plus’ newsletter to receive a 20% coupon and now I am inundated with kitchen accoutrement porn and honestly I can’t complain.
Everyone loved this Boursin dip and I wished I developed the recipe. It taste like this dip from this pizza shop around the corner from my house, but obviously I stopped going because there’s dairy in it. This Boursin dip, however, is dairy-free.
All the way from Brooklyn it’s Partners coffee by way of Simone. Thank you! I am dying to use these beans with my new espresso machine. Whenever the fuck it arrives. Detailed review to follow.
Went to Canada’s Wonderland over the weekend for Halloween Haunt with some friends and it was exciting and thrilling! Albeit cold, but it was compounded by waves of heat and perspiration from the jump scares of zombies and ghosts lurking from all the corners of Vaughan.
Silk Chiffon by MUNA is growing on me. I must admit if it wasn’t for Phoebe Bridgers on that second verse I would have probably passed. This live version from the Governors Ball is really cute. I am subscribed to Fran Tirado’s Substack, Fran’s Joy Digest, which is a delight and who is in the video.
On the latest episode of The Cut, they examine parasocial relationships which I find fascinating! Am I invested in one? Are you invested in one? Do you feel you are in a parasocial relationship with me by subscribing to my newsletter? Do you feel like you know me?
Is pineapple as a topping on pizza really that unsettling and relationship breaking? Purportedly, Canadians love it, according to CBC, myself included. Don’t hate me.
My first concert in over two years: Tennis. I think I almost cried by the experience of going to a concert. Why were there so much 20-somethings? I had mezzanine seating and I am at an age in my life where sitting down at a concert feels righteous.
Finally, in a crowd of Fran Leibowitz’s, you have a Cloud 9 Superstore employee. Power to the proletariat!
Thank you for stopping by!

I am getting some feedback from my readers that some prefer short and concise and some would prefer long form. I think based on where my life is at the moment, short and concise is where I firmly stand. Because time. Maybe in the future!
