Morning,
I saw somewhere, while in the deep web, that someone’s bio read “internet person”. It read very earnest. And I didn’t put too much thought into it at first, but it eventually lingered to my top 5 things I couldn’t stop thinking about all week.
According to Urban Dictionary:
A person (or persons) that one may typically find on the internet. Their opinions and understandings of any subject they choose to discuss are superior to that of you or any expert in the field. They frequent message boards, the blogosphere, and can be found anywhere on the internet. Not every person that uses the internet is an "internet person," and it's very rare that an internet person would acknowledge his or her self as being one.
I would proudly claim that I am an internet person. ugh. then lol. This newsletter is a testament to that fact. Before this newsletter, I occupied spaces on MSN Messenger, AOL, ICQ, LiveJournal, Myspace, Lookbook, Polyvore, Blogger, Asian Avenue (if you know, you know), Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Tik Tok, et al. If it exists, I’ve dabbled in it. Except for Tik Tok.
The idea of being an “internet person” feels foolish. Claiming an identity merely for existing. Then again, there are influencers who are internet people earning income. We value and aspire that in a capitalist society.
I find myself oscillating between being an internet person (this newsletter) and being offline (atm, off ig). I enjoy building community here (those who have subscribed, like, comment and reply), all without the stress of Instagram. Chiefly, I value the autonomy and creativity that this medium presents. Not immune to criticism, is it enough being just that, an internet person?
I am OOO indefinitely. Shaking things up a bit, possibly!
See. U. SoOn.

No Homosexual Agenda! The audacity. Spiralled too much this week. If you are so inclined, what was on your agenda this week?
Here’s a picture of me in my first Toronto apartment 10 years ago. That Cambridge Satchel Company bag was a hot ticket item, thanks Alexa Chung.
I also am staying off Tiktok at the moment -- I think I've finally encountered a piece of social media I feel too old for 🤣 plus all the best memes and trends get shared to twitter, IG and Facebook anyway lol
Love the thumbs up in your pic
