homosexual agenda
The logo is making its way from Mars so it’s taking some time.
Hi!
I have been thoroughly relishing in the heat wave that is hot, humid and is probably an excellent case study for climate change. I am not here to spew scientific data at this moment, but know that what we’re experiencing is joy and peril at the same time. It’s PEAK SUMMER with a hint of societal collapse that my Android phone keeps feeding me.
A few weeks ago, I mentioned that I wanted to create some sort of list. Which appears to be relatively standard from all the newsletters I have subscribed to. Just following orders. On that note, I recently signed up to Tejal Rao’s newsletter about vegetarian cooking via the NYT’s. I am beyond excited because I have been in a cooking rut. Furthermore, I currently have 20 unread emails, of which I need to read, sort, delete and most likely unsubscribe to a majority of them. For example, I ordered a gift for a friend and received 4 emails! FOUR!
Circling back to that list, I played around with a few ideas and titles, but nothing felt genuine and a bit facetious. My personal brand. But I conquered and came up with the Homosexual Agenda. Through research and by research I mean Wikipedia, this is what came up:
"Gay agenda" (or "homosexual agenda") is a term introduced by sectors of the Christian religious right as a disparaging way to describe the advocacy of cultural acceptance and normalization of non-heterosexualorientations and relationships. The term originated among social conservatives in the United States and has been adopted in other nations with active anti-LGBT movements such as Hungary and Uganda.
The term refers to efforts to change government policies and laws on LGBT rights–related issues. Additionally, it has been used by social conservatives and others to describe alleged goals of LGBT rights activists, such as recruiting heterosexuals into what conservatives term a "homosexual lifestyle".
I am here to reclaim the homosexual agenda. In the same capacity that we have reclaimed queer, faggot and to my surprise, twink. To be honest, the homosexual agenda of a 33 year old is banal and pedestrian. I couldn’t be more proud of myself. I want to highlight that LGBTQ+ people are just like you, but cooler, obviously and 1000% less hetero. We shop for tofu on Tuesdays, go for drinks at a wine bar before 7PM and eat pizza at 2AM watching White Lotus. Just. Like. You. But. Cooler.
The Homosexual Agenda will come after the main subject. A list of maybe 1-67 things I did that week. It really depends on how much of a giving mood I am at that moment. With that being said, let’s get oversharing.
Homosexual Agenda ( also requiring a logo, is this newsletter even legit?)
A&W launched Beyond Meat chicken nuggets and I impulsively purchased 6 pieces with a side of french fries at 10PM. No regrets.
Cold brew from Black Cat Espresso and quite honestly their beans are better suited for piping hot beverages only.
French fries from Burdock that were so salty in a way that was satisfying and not overpowering. Would order again in combination with Nula.
Went to a beach outside of Toronto with friends and I am under obligation to not disclose the location on any public platform. Said friends also brought paddle boards and I miraculously managed to stand longer than I thought I could.
This might be unpopular opinion, cancel culture aside (I don’t subscribe to cancel culture), but I watched Alison Roman’s recent Home Movies about fish and I find her cooking technique and recipes quite rudimentary. I understand that salt, pepper, olive oil is the foundation to a lot of cooking (kind of), but where is the technique, innovation, skill. Not cancelled, but I am over it.

Read part of this NYTs piece on cool Asian pop stars this AM. Must finish it.

Turns out the homosexual agenda is all about food and food brings joy.
K bye,
