At this very moment, right now, is what I can only describe as the sartorial mid-summer slump. The feeling that everything in the closet is uninspiring. It could be our human condition for wanting novelty and newness. Every summer outfit imaginable I have worn, multiple times.
I have thought about purchasing new items. I am allowing myself one or two new tops for the remainder of summer, maybe. Everything seems to be made of linen, or linen adjacent, and I’d much prefer cotton. 100% cotton. Purchasing clothes online is just not an option because I need to feel and try on the clothes. And for quality assurance, of course. The other end of the spectrum is that I don’t need any clothes at all and I will be fine. Fall will be here and clothes will be fun again.
The amount of clothes I own is pretty small and I want to keep it that way for simplicity and ease when figuring out what to wear.
This past Saturday, I went to a gay bar with Daniel and a friend between the hours of 2-5PM. This is the type of bar that if you look hard enough, you’ll find a dark room. We were strictly there for the rooftop bar. As we entered the venue, there happened to be a pup play event. I looked past the scene on the way up the stairs just out of curiosity. The most interesting part of the day was that when we sat at a table, Clairo started playing. It’s not really the kink playlist they’re looking for, I am sure.
I take it back. Charli XCX’s Brat is fun.
Throwing Fits is back with another banger podcast ep with Feed Me’s Emily Sundberg. Here, she discusses NY finance bros (still down with the crypto), Frog Club drama and there’s always more room for Substack writers. Be less self-conscious about eevvvvvrrrythhiinnnggg. Yeah, true.
People have informed me that if I put Life of Gay behind a paywall I need to push the agenda of a parasocial relationship. More or less. I don’t have a business plan. I am not one to affiliate link the shit out this. Would you fund my lifestyle????? Do you want to know what I am eating for dinner next Tuesday??? For $5 a month you can. Think about it.
