Vampire Weekend’s Only God Was Above Us is setting the tone for today’s post. The record, released earlier this year, is about optimism and perseverance in times of distress and uncertainty.
Classical:
In times of war, the educated class knew what to do
In times of peace, their pupils couldn't meet your baby blues
400 million animals competing for the zoo
It's such a bleak sunrise
Untrue, unkind and unnatural
How the cruel, with time, becomes classical
Today’s newsletter includes:
Processing the US election, pre and post
Not a review of Anora
Tech CEOs love Trump (probably because they hate Lina Khan)
Homosexual Agenda (you know may know them as recs)
As a Canadian, I have an outsiders view of the US election. I can’t fathom what Americans are going through, for those who voted for a more just society, only to resign. Because we’re neighbours, I can fathom that what happened in America, will happen in Canada, it’s just a matter of when. We can already see the Trumpification in Canadian politics and the ideology that permeates among conservative constituents.
As much as I wanted to avoid American politics leading up to the election, American media always has a way of crossing the god damn Great Lakes.
